Local by default · One hotkey · One-time CHF 39

Speak roughly. It writes cleanly.

macOS transcribes your voice. Saydrop turns it into text you can send: local Gemma cleanup fixes punctuation, drops the “um”s and false starts, and follows the correction you made mid-sentence. Double-tap one key, speak, and it lands at your cursor in whatever app you’re in.

double-tap → mic capture
             → mlx-whisper (medium)
             → Gemma cleanup (local, optional)
             → ⌘V into focused app

How it works

Four steps, one gesture.

From hotkey to finished sentence without leaving the app you’re writing in — no window to focus, no menu to click.

01

Double-tap

Tap your hotkey, anywhere. A click-through pill floats above your work while you speak.

02

Transcribe

mlx-whisper (medium by default) turns speech into text entirely on your Apple Silicon Mac.

03

Clean up

Switch on local Gemma cleanup and the transcript becomes punctuated prose — fillers and false starts gone.

04

Paste

The finished text lands at your cursor via ⌘V — in whatever app you were using.

Capabilities

Ready to send.
Not just transcribed.

A raw transcript still needs editing. Saydrop’s job is the step after transcription — and doing it on your own hardware, for one payment of CHF 39.

Cleanup that reads like writing

Switch on local Gemma cleanup and “um, so we should — no wait, Tuesday” becomes a sentence: punctuation, capitalisation, fillers removed, self-corrections resolved.

Runs on your Mac by default

Gemma 4 E2B does the cleanup through mlx-lm on Apple Silicon, in an isolated subprocess — no transcript leaves the machine, and it works on a plane. Cloud cleanup via Gemini is available if you opt in and provide your own API key.

One key, two gestures

Hold to talk for a quick phrase, or double-tap to latch hands-free and double-tap again to stop. No mode to set — the key does both.

Lands in the app you’re already in

Mail, Slack, a terminal, a text field in a browser: the text is pasted at your cursor. Nothing to focus, nothing to copy out of a transcript window.

Personal dictionary

Names, jargon and product terms — one per line. It biases transcription and pins spelling during cleanup, re-read on every dictation.

Mixed-language dictation

Dictate across a configured set (de, en, fr, it…) and Saydrop auto-detects per clip — or pin a single language.

A transcript is a draft. What you actually want is the sentence you meant to say.

Privacy

Private
by architecture.

The cleanup step is the part most tools send to a server. Saydrop keeps both transcription and cleanup on your Mac, and transcript history is an explicit choice that is off by default.

  • Transcription is local. Audio is processed in memory and is not persisted by Saydrop.
  • Cleanup is off by default; local Gemma/Qwen and cloud Gemini are explicit choices.
  • Rotating diagnostics stay local by default; optional Graylog sends metadata only and is off by default.
  • Plaintext transcript history is opt-in, off by default, and can be explicitly deleted.
  • If macOS hasn’t granted paste permission yet, your text is left on the clipboard rather than lost.

The safe default isn’t a feature you pay extra for. It’s the only way Saydrop works.
