Saydrop is Apple-Silicon-only — it uses Apple’s MLX framework for fast on-device inference. Intel Macs, Windows and Linux aren’t supported.

First launch

From download to dictating.

  1. 01 A 🎤 icon appears in your menu bar.
  2. 02 The Whisper and local Gemma models download once (~6 GB) — the menu shows ⏳ while they do.
  3. 03 macOS prompts for Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring — grant all three.
  4. 04 Double-tap your hotkey, speak, double-tap again. Polished text lands at your cursor.

Signed & notarized

The Saydrop .dmg is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so macOS Gatekeeper opens it without warnings. If you ever see a prompt, right-click the app and choose Open once.
